Blast from the Past: When I was on ABC2 News Talking about Women, Abuse, and My Work as a Therapist Who Helps Survivors of Abuse

When I worked at TurnAround in Baltimore Country as a trauma / abuse therapist, I was sought out to be on the local news twice because of my expertise. Today I came across one of those times, which is this 2011 news clip of me talking about how common sexual assault and domestic violence are for women. *Please be aware that this video may be triggering if you are a survivor of abuse*

As I share in the video, I was not surprised at the statistics that were released at the time about how many women experience domestic violence and sexual assault (1 in 4 and 1 in 5, respectively). As I also mention in the video, I believe that these numbers are underestimated based on my experiences knowing people in both my professional life and personal life who don’t report their abuse to authorities for various reasons.

I am very proud of the work I did at TurnAround for 8 years helping survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse/assault, and human trafficking. I am happy to continue that work in private practice. I am committed to helping survivors reclaim their power and heal from their abuse experiences.

If you have experienced abuse and would like a therapist to help you heal from it, contact me for a free consultation to see how I can help you.
